Love this series and love this narrator. Have been waiting ages for this follow on, and it's was well worth the wait. It has all the elements needed to tantalize and titiltate, speculate and satisfy the cases in progress. Book 6 is in the works so expected nothing to be finally cleared up here, just enjoyed the ride.

Loved every minute of this next chapter for Sam and Jason. It's not the end of the story (and I was glad I knew that already from other reviews - thank you!), but well written and gripping, and the characters so well drawn. Perfectly read by Kale Williams. A class act.

The quality of Josh Lanyon's output has been faultering for some years now, but I keep giving her the benefit of the doubt and buy her audios, hoping she'll return to her glory days. But alas, this book is another disappointment and I feel cheated.

For a start, the title has nothing to do with the content. She's taken huge liberties even using the plural 'murders' . West spends the whole book deciding whether a death was murder. This involves massive chunks of info dumping dressed up as his internal monologue about the history of movies. It sounds like it was cut and pasted from elsewhere to beef up the word count. I wanted a tight, gritty murder mystery, not a few chapters of a history book shoed into the storyline. Therefore, nothing much happens. We're introduced to a bunch of pointless undeveloped characters, who are questioned about the possible murder, a couple of older characters are mentioned and other storylines are hinted at. The relationship with Sam developing at a snails pace.

The audiobook ends abruptly making me wonder 'Seriously, is that it?'.

I cannot fault Kale Williams narration, but I feel for him having to read this hash of a book. No, I'm not invested enough in these characters to be bothered anymore.
