About this listen

A family with a secret.

A past about to catch up with them.

At 30, Hanna has finally decided she's better off without her family. They hold her responsible for the incident that ruined their lives 14 years ago, and they've barely spoken since.

But then, whilst browsing a true-crime website, she sees her family home listed as the site of a brutal murder. Number of victims: three. Date of crime: today. When the police investigate, they find no bodies, but the house is abandoned. Hanna's family have disappeared.

To find them, Hanna will have to confront what happened all those years ago.

And the person determined to make her pay for it....

After reading Vanessa's previous 2 books (which I really enjoyed) I was hoping for something similar; but unfortunately not. It starts off well, but after about 2 hrs, all the various names and character backgrounds started to blur. Problem is nothing really happens for most of the book. Even at the end I thought "huh, is that it"? It was probably 4 hours tooooo long. Maybe at 8hrs it might have been a better mystery (its definitely not a thriller).
The narration is also quite slow, I listened on 1.2 (which I considered normal speech) and many of the accents are Welsh. I found I had to concentrate to remember who was who (which I really don't want to do with fiction)😔

Oh dear
