About this listen

Nine-year-old Louis Drax lies in a coma in a hospital bed, re-living the events that led to his near-fatal fall into a ravine. Despite being attracted to the boy's mother Natalie Drax, Louis' doctor, Pascal Dannachet, begins reluctantly to question her version of Louis' accident and the apparent culpability of her missing husband.

As the boy struggles to communicate from within his coma, the chilling truth emerges....

I found this was best listened to at a 1.20% speed as original recording is somewhat slow paced.
I loved the character Louis Drax, but felt the book lost it's way somewhat and shifted from more the Drs perspective which was far less entertaining. I kept expecting a plot twist or major drama but it all seemed quite predictable which left me disappointed.

Predictably OK

Liz Jensen writes some unusual thrillers, with compelling characters. This story is well narrated and so easy to listen, it's an ideal listen for a long flight. Quite gripping and probably more meaningful than most thrillers out there.

Not bad

Slightly turgid prose and poor narration just didn't do it justice. Always difficult having an adult do a child's voice but this one also had an Australia twang. The main adult voice was flat and did nothing to engage the listener.

Decent suspense story but...

Would recommend this to anyone interested in the strange or unusual that goes on in the world.
