Summary

2045, the Arctic Circle. A crew of six aboard the research vessel, The Nox, embark upon a voyage through the melting ice and Arctic dark in search of the last of the polar bears. The mission represents a ray of hope in a world ravaged by climate change, but it quickly becomes clear that some on board are in search of more than bears....

Isolation and the disorientation of 24/7 darkness soon have the group losing their grip on reality – accidents, nightmares, or hauntings – no one can be sure, but the voyage seems cursed. For Professor Clara Fitzgerald, the mission quickly turns from conservation to survival as she realises that danger lurks not only out on the ice, but on The Nox itself.

The Nox is a nightmare fuelled SciFi thriller that asks how far is too far to save the world.

Intense, claustrophobic story about climate change and AI. Brilliantly told by a great cast - heartily recommend.

Gripping psychological thriller

Often I've struggled to enjoy sci-fi audio dramas but found this to be a deeply personal story about a future we may find ourselves in. The cast were spectacular, lashana lynch grew from a troubled, reserved character into an understated and empathetic character, trying to realise and reckon with her own grief. The soundscapes were sweeping and immersive, and the story was constantly provocative, growing through horror and tragedy to drama, in a way that felt organic, a nice mix of genre that held my attention through multiple sittings, where I was left wondering throughout the day what might be next.

Sci-fi I really enjoyed

This is an easy listen. Well read and acted, the Nox is an exciting and entralling story of a crew searching for a way to save the planet. At times it felt like a ghost story and this makes sense given the powerful theme of sleep running through the twists and turns of this story.

Hooked me right in!

Listened to this on a recommendation and I’m so glad I did! Have been trying to find something different and gripping, and I definitely found that in The Nox. The cast and writers have made this a real treat. I’ve recommended to all my friends because this NEEDS to be listened to! So glad I downloaded it!

OMG - I love it!! I am a huge fan of Lashana Lynch, part of the reason for getting it, and the performance is awesome! I didn’t realise that I have missed type of experience for forty years as I remembered loving audio story tapes with multiple actors as a child but there are actually few adult stories in this way (though many book read by one reader).
It’s exciting, gripping, the music, the direction and production is reminiscent of exactly a cinematic experience but without the need to see the screen - it is brilliant - I am totally in love with this new experience. Love the acting - thank you for making this available!
The story - close to the bone, sci-fi but fascinating potential what if scenario imagery, climate change future sci-if amazingly directed and told by the actors performance. Also the back and forth jumping of time in the story. I can’t wait for more of this kind!!!

Amazing
