About this listen

Feeling overwhelmed?

This is the audiobook for you.

Rather than waiting for the big life-changing moments, which more often than not don't happen, The Power of Small shows you how to take manageable steps as opportunities to change your life, one decision at a time - emphasising self-compassion as a means to gently expand your comfort zone and open up new horizons.

Mixing case studies from clinical practice with the latest psychological research, the authors also share personal stories, having worked firsthand with these techniques on their own journeys towards improved mental and emotional well-being.

From understanding -- and learning to observe without judgment - the traps our minds set to breaking out of our comfort zones, The Power of Small technique is all about what is manageable in the now and teaches us how to prioritise and know what boundaries to keep, and which to gently push.

If your mind tells you that certain life changes are unattainable, undeserved, or too hot to handle, this simple and effective book is the one for you.

"At last! A book that shows you realistically how to transform your life, one small step at a time." (Russ Harris, author of international best seller The Happiness Trap)

I could only tolerate two chapters and I will probably but the book to read as I like what was being said. The way it is read is painful, to me it’s like someone is reading it out loud for the first time and like they’re reading to a child!

The book may be good but the voice is painful!

Like most self help books it has some good ideas but generally it didn't hit the correct tone for me.

Just ok

If you are looking for a way to improve your life but you're overwhelmed, I highly recommend that you pick up this book.

I have made small, incremental, positive changes to my life over time which have reaped major benefits for me.

The act of sitting down to identify the values I want to live by was key. From there I am able to check in to make sure my progress is in line with my values. The book talks about Away Moves and Towards Moves which I find is an excellent and non-judgmental way to frame behaviours and helps me notice if my actions are in line with my values.

I have picked up so many valuable skills in terms of identifying emotional traps, having 5 minute breakouts, dropping the struggle, facing the ways I avoid pain (Distraction, Opting Out, Thinking Traps and Self Defeating Actions) as well as developing more compassion with myself.

I own both the paperback and the audible version, and it's really made a difference in my life. If you find that you shy away from self-improvement books due to heavy psychological jargon or clinical language, I would urge you to read this - the text is incredibly accessible, the concepts are laid out in plain english and Aisling's voice is incredibly calming.

I've recommended this to two of my friends who were asking my advice on areas they were struggling with and it's had positive effects for them in their lives.

This is a book I often re-read or re-listen to on the go. It has been such a huge help to me personally and anyone who I have recommended to. Cannot recommend it enough.

A must have in anyone's library!
