About this listen

In the shadows and flames, Primals will fall…

And from the blood and ash, new gods will rise.

What was dreamt.

Poppy was never meant to awaken, and the consequences are devastating and far-reaching, stirring ancient powers from their slumber and transforming Casteel and Kieran in ways even the Fates couldn’t have foreseen. But what that means is the least of their concerns. For now.

What was foreseen.

The Blood Crown has fallen, but what has risen is a far greater danger than they’ve ever faced. From flesh and fire, the Great Conspirator has returned to the mortal realm, and he wants only one thing. They must stop the true Primal of Death before he regains his strength, and it won’t be easy. Even weakened, his influence is undeniable. His power, unthinkable.

Has come to be.

While the future of the realms rests upon them, they won’t stand alone. The gods have awakened—each harboring their own blood-soaked secrets. But they must navigate an unbalanced realm, where every choice—past and present—has the potential to not only undo everything they’ve fought for but also destroy the very bonds that have Joined them together.

For the Harbinger and the Bringer of Death and Destruction has risen.

Disappointing to say the least😤 the book is way too long, too much talking and not enough action… Poppy was the baddest thing in the series but in this book she’s like a dumb girl who doesn’t have any sense and you even take away her fighting skills and Casteel ended up having more powers.. I don’t get it at all… this book went down hill fast.. 40 hours and only 10 minutes of action…some of the plots didn’t even make sense.. and all the characters we loved was just lost to the side..the fight between Casteel and Kieran was unnecessary and sad it takes away from the storyline, and also Casteel attitude was annoying he’s always getting angry at the drop of a hat… JLA, I don’t know what happened but you are one of the best Authors out there but this wasn’t worth the wait or the credit sorry… 😔 I don’t know if the next book can save the series but I have faith in you JLA😔

Way too long, and it lacks substance…

I really enjoyed this. While it was a bit too long, and I don’t think that was really necessary, it was really fun and enjoyable. Some parts felt more dragged out, but most of it felt more like the earlier books, which I was very happy about. I can’t wait for the last book.

So good

I'm so disappointed. After the last installment from Casteel - which just felt completely unnecessary - I was ready for this story to keep going at the same chaotic and colourful, heartfelt and emotional pace as before. Except it didn't.
I think a lot of this book could have been edited out to be honest. So many repetitive conversations and so many internal monologues made it all so tough to get through!
Where was Kieran?!?
The last few chapters were amazing and felt like the rest of the books. I loved the action scenes and the courage of Poppy in the face of such hardship. That being said, the ending was obvious from the start and that was disappointing.
I will read the next/final part of this series as I've loved it from the start. I was just really hoping for more.
As always the narrators did an excellent job and it's down to them that I made it through the endless waffle.

Too much waffle!

Bah, I was so looking forward to this book, but now I'm disappointed.

Skip the first prologue chapter because nothing happens in it. At all. The first few chapters felt really slow, and although the pace did eventually pick up there was still a load of repetition where the two main characters basically gave the same info.

I've also gone right off the Casteel character because he's so clingy and possessive now.

With this series I already thought the whole premise of having 'god inflation' was a bit daft (where there are hundreds of gods so then you have to have boss-level gods and then super-boss-level and then mega-super-boss gods), but with this particular book a load of retcon has also been piled on, so now lots of the previous worldbuilding has been unravelled and rewritten. Sigh.

Having said that, I did enjoy the story more when I'd got about halfway through, and there is one heck of an emotional gut punch in this book.

I would have given the story 4 stars, but it ended on a chuffing cliffhanger, which made me very cross.

Performance-wise, I love the female narrator but can't stand the male one. His accent is really fake and weird-sounding at times.

OK but has a slow start and it's repetitive and full of retcon
