Princess Esofi of Rhodia and Crown Prince Albion of Ieflaria have been betrothed since they were children, though the great distance between their kingdoms mean the two have never met. Upon coming of age, Esofi makes the long journey to Ieflaria for her wedding, only to learn Albion was recently killed in a tragic accident.

With dragons threatening to overrun the kingdom, Ieflaria is desperate for an alliance with Rhodia. As a result, Esofi is offered a new betrothal to Albion's younger sister, the new Crown Princess Adale. But Adale is irresponsible and wild and has no plans of taking the throne, leaving Esofi with more to battle than fire-breathing beasts.

This is my favourite feel good fantasy romance series of all time. It has everything from interesting characters and couples, to deep world building. I will aim to keep my reviews succinct because I would like you, potential future reader, to experience the joy of this series without spoilers.

The Queen of Ieflaria does a good job of establishing both the relationship between Adele and Esofi, their individual personalities, and the overall plot of the series. Although the story takes place in Ieflaria, there is a lot of worldbuilding to make you interested in the other nations and continents, which are all shown on a map by Effie at the start of the book. Adele and Esofi are both likeable characters with a good amount of character development in this book. Overall, The Queen of Ieflaria is a really solid foundation for the rest of the series.

The narration by Brenda Scott Wlazlo is a joy to listen to.
