Summary

Levi Black has mostly recovered from the events of a year ago. The only lingering effects are that he’s much more well-known in York than he’d like to be, and he’s a lot more cautious about walking around his house naked.

However, those events brought him the capricious and fascinating Blue, so he’s not complaining. On the contrary, he’s happy, in love, and looking forward to Blue finally moving in with him. And if sometimes he wonders what Blue sees in a boring cartoonist, he keeps that to himself.

Blue Billings is finally ready to throw off the memories of his past and move in with the person who means the most in the world to him. His psychic abilities have grown in the last year to his mentor Tom's consternation, but Blue is determined to look on the bright side. He’s also focused on ignoring all the warning signs that he’s received lately.

However, even deeply buried secrets have a way of rising to the surface. And when a surprise from Blue’s past turns up and draws them away to a lonely house on the Yorkshire moors, Levi and Blue must fight for their survival once again.

From best-selling author Lily Morton comes the second book in the Black & Blue series. The books are intended to be listened to in order.

I love this series, and I love the author.

We meet Blue and Levi again after a year away from them, and Ohh my, I loved this book just as much as I did the first one.

We get to meet some of the old characters and lots of new ones as they go looking for ghosts in a stately manor. But things are not what they seem. Great story.

The English humour in this book makes you smile most of the time—excellent writing.

Joel Leslie did wonders with the characters accents, posh English and then Irish accents. Easy to listen to. I did speed up the narration like usual to 1.35 on audible.

I loved this audiobook! I am not usually one for real spooky ghost stories, but this one had me enthralled. I had planned to just listen for a couple hours, but I ended up listening to the whole thing in one sitting, riveted to my seat. And when I say real spooky, it was! It brought back memories of the movie The Shining with Jack Nicholson, as I wondered what was real, what was a dream, and what was spectral influence. The MCs Levi and Blue are fantastic, and I loved the mix of story, personal uncertainties and (light) angst, and steamy sexy times. There is well-placed snark and humor, too. I loved Tom and his wisdom, guidance, and biting humor. The other secondary characters all had individual and independent characters, too, whether you loved, hated, or despised them. They weren't just filler. I am really eager for more stories and to learn more about Levi and Blue.

The narration by Joel Leslie is fantastic. He gives unique and fitting voices for each character and his voice really sets the mood.

I thought the 1st book was scary but OH BOY~~!! It had nothing on this one!! WILL SCARE YOUR HEAD OFF is the road Lily traveled here and no matter how prepared you think you are, you aren't!!! Especially if you are like me and tend to give the horror genre a wide berth!

I won't say anything more and spoil the atmosphere of the story that you can feel heavy on your chest and you are sure you'll see your breath fogging, but I do need to post my favorite thing in the book:
"This is why bloody commas are so important," This by the brilliant mouth of Tom.

As for Levi and Blue they come out of the book stronger and more solid in their relationship. Have no fear, the angsty-shelf I used isn't for them but for all the fear Lily inspired.

Joel Leslie is an amazing narrator but for this series his performance doesn't emits the tension, the feelings, the atmosphere that were absolutely present and a cloak around me when I was reading it, he is great but maybe because I've read the story first I'm just not feeling it as much.

I received a code for this audiobook from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.

This book was epically good. Morton is affectionately known as the queen of snark and while she still holds the title with this book, we also continue to see another side of her that just truly showcases what a phenomenal author she is. I mean, I was able to go from cracking up one minute, to literally biting my nails the next, and back so quickly it should’ve given me whiplash but it just worked so dang well. Levi and Blue are one of the greatest couples ever, their love shines through even when they are individually feeling insecure, and they are just so strong together. This book was even creepier than the first, with lots of anxiety inducing scary movie esque moments, and I loved every minute of it. Humor, scares, love, the best grumpy mentor ever, this book truly has it all and I dearly hope it isn’t the last in the series. (Also desperately need Will and Jem to get a story!)

As for the narration, Joel Leslie is actually not usually one of my favorite narrators but I think he does this series so well!

I will always want more Blue & Levi and I loved that this one lived up to book 1. Full of twists, ghosts, darkness and danger. I feel like there's so much intrigue to this world and I hope for more stories from this world and wonderful found family!! I hope we might get a Will and Jem story too in the future! I love Lily's writing and love her venture into paranormal romance! I loved it!!!

Brilliant!!
