Summary

A brutal murder.

A raven tattoo.

A twisted killer has returned.

And Detective Beth Fellows cannot fail again....

Detective Chief Inspector Beth Fellows is thrown into the biggest case of her career: the brutal murder of Rose Danes. She quickly realizes Rose’s murder is linked to a cold case she investigated two years previously. The victim, 14-year-old Celine Wilson, survived but now languishes in a coma.

Both girls were branded with the image of a raven.

The only lead is a vague description and a first name, Simon.

Beth’s convinced he’s the killer. Especially when she receives a mobile phone containing one sole contact, Simon—and a warning to tell no one.

Then a key witness is kidnapped, and Beth finds herself in a race against time to stop the killer before he can kill again.

She’s breaking all the rules to play his game. But will it be enough?

I couldn’t stand the narrators droning voice going on and on about all the lead characters and shortfalls. I gave up after chapter 5.

Boring

This was a really good book. I hope there’s more from the author to come

Good book

This could have been a very good book. It had a good plot, completely ruined by the lead detective. She was pathetic, should have just worn a tee shirt emblazoned with to Logo, Poor Me. What kind of detective takes non work related phone calls during the initial hours of a murder investigation, then switches her phone to silent! Does not inform her team that she is in phone contact with someone threatening all their lives, when the proper response would be to arm them with the knowledge and ability to protect themselves. Together they would have done so. Someone with her mind set of spending more time thinking about her Mothers murder, should never be in the Police Force in the first place….running around protecting Millie, that was just pathetic. Worst of all we had guessed who the murderer was the moment Tom said he couldn’t remember which case he was following up the day he met his soon to be wife outside the hospital. First thing they should have checked on was why he was there. They didn’t. So people died when there was no need for them to so. The team could have solved this case half way through the book had they not had a cringe worthy SIO in charge.

Good idea for a story

The strong female main character was just so unlikeable, the plot was a bit silly but it was ok I suppose, it passed the time for a few hours.

Just Ok

I enjoyed it - but the jaw dropping twist was telegraphed from very early on.
The performance was great - very appropriate accent for the book.
I would have preferred a bit less navel gazing and more action - overall a quality listen

Gripping but..
