Summary

"Big Bob" Bashara put on a respectable face. To his friends in Detroit's affluent suburb of Grosse Pointe, he was a married father of two, Rotary Club President, church usher, and soccer dad who organized charity events with his wife, Jane.

To his "slaves", he was "Master Bob", a cocaine-snorting slumlord who operated a sex dungeon and had a submissive girlfriend to do his bidding - and he wanted more slaves to serve him. But Bashara knew he couldn't rule a household of concubines on his income alone. He eyed his wife's sizable retirement account and formulated a murderous plan.

This meticulous account tells the complete story of the crime, the nationally watched investigation and trials, and the lives affected.

Sucked in by a titillating story line … I’ll admit it. I found the story and narration ok but neither were anything special and by the end I was finding it somewhat monotonous .

Sucked in by a titillating story line

Really enjoyed listening to this - I liked the way the story was laid out & I enjoyed the narrator's style. I was pleased that the victims of this crime - Jane & her loved ones - were given ample focus in this book - instead of purely focusing on Bob. What a waste of a good life - rest in peace Jane X

Engaging story of the tragic death of Jane Bashara

The narrator does a great job with somewhat flawed material. The problem centres on the style of the book - it’s one of those that are typical of US true crime stories whereby there’s way too much irrelevant detail and consequently the story is rambling and and times very dull….my mind kept drifting off the subject. If you like that style then great but I prefer a bit more focus…..

A bit rambling, padded, and boring at times

Fascinating

His sexual preferences had nothing to do with the fact that this man was revolting.

Horrid horrid man
