About this listen

A twisting YA novel from New York Times and international best-selling thriller writer Matthew Reilly.

'The windows on all the skyscrapers are smashed....
No power, no lights, no people....
It's a parallel New York of some kind.'

The Coming End

When Skye Rogers and her twin brother, Red, move to Manhattan, rumours of a coming global apocalypse are building. But this does not stop the young elite of New York from partying without a care.

Can You Keep a Secret?

And then suddenly Skye is invited to join an exclusive gang known as the Secret Runners of New York. But this is no ordinary clique - they have access to an underground portal that can transport them into the future. And what Skye discovers in the future is horrifying....

Run! As Fast as You Can!

As society crumbles and Skye and Red race to figure out how to use their knowledge to survive the impending annihilation, they soon discover that the chaotic end of the world is a fine time for revenge....

Not for me - but then I’m not the target audience. I found the story hard to care about. The main character was both racist and sexist, she claims to be unlike the other horrid girls yet continually belittles others for their skin colour, size and mental health. It wouldn’t be so bad if those awful representations were ever challenged - they weren’t. So maybe that’s just how the author really does perceive the world and how people are.

Sorry not for me. I liked the Mayan references but they passed so quickly I couldn’t really treasure them.

Unusual but too much swearing.

Another hit from Reilly, really enjoyed the story and narratiors performance. Hopefully the first of a new series.

Excellent audiobook

I was quite unsure about this title, but took a risk on it.

It turned out to be very good, although rather gruesome in parts. But not gratuitously so.

Good storyline and well structured

Unexpected and compelling

Wonderful ,entertaining suspenseful. An underdog story with a twist. Matthew Reilly does not disappoint. Recommend.

I really wasn’t sure about this... a YA book (I am not a YA!)... but I enjoyed MR’s Scarecrow series, so thought I’d give it a try.

I was pleasantly surprised to be quickly absorbed and I was up half the night listening. I actually found it a little scary at times, but it’s not gruesome or horror, just suspenseful.

Anyway, don’t be put off by the YA label, it’s really a mystery/sci-fi tale with a high-school backdrop, but fairly quickly shifts focus to an impending apocalypse and mysterious goings on... am looking forward to the next instalment!

Well narrated too!!

Gosh... surprisingly good!!
