About this listen

1850s Shropshire. Returning to her mother's birthplace at the age of 18, Beatrice Ashford encounters a complex family she barely knows. Her great-grandmother Queenie adores her, but the privileged social position of Beatrice's family as masters of the local brickworks begins to make her uncomfortable. And then she meets Owen Malone: handsome, different, refreshing - and from a class beneath her own.

They fall for each other fast, but an old family feud and growing industrial unrest threatens to drive them apart. Can they overcome their different backgrounds? And can Beatrice make amends for her family's past?

Both books are amazing. The characters brought to life by the wonderful Lu the narrator. I can’t wait to get the final book in the trilogy and complete the story of Ironbridge. I recommend this trilogy to others.

Brilliant. Highly recommend

This story caught me from the very first, the excellent narration of Lu Corfield was definitely the reason as well as the story. I actually looked for other books she may have narrated but was gutted to find there were no more. I will now go and try to find another story as good as this one but as naratters, I fear that may prove difficult.

Loved it. Both books were brilliant.

good storyline. good mix of characters
a few events had abrupt ends/ not smooth link to next part of the story, especially at the end.
some of the words were mispronounced, they were said in the American way.

good part 2 of the series
