I enjoyed this until Ms Taylor decided to use her novel to preach and lecture the listeners. Good novelists leave readers to draw their own conclusions but Ms Taylor was having none of that. The Conservatives are bad, all the illegal immigrants from Calais are deserving who can’t possibly make a home in France and joyless self righteous Inga is to be admired. That’s without the women’s rights lectures. I have several feminist books. If I want to read about feminist history I don’t choose a crime novel.
Is she getting bored of writing fiction. The ending ( of the novel not the post novel 2 hour lecture) was rather far fetched. Shame as it was good when she was writing a story.

On the whole the narrator does a good job. But how can the names of places be read so badly? It's FOOLA
A Shetland narrator or at least advisor is needed.

I was delighted to read another person's comment that they also thought they enjoyed this series but this book, like the prior, gets preachy.. just repeatedly stating facts for no context.. , three times as well. The story tries to incorporate child abuse, trafficking, pedophiles, wife abuse, I think that's all, oh murder of course and death of a baby, quiet the number of key topics, one might suggest the editor didn't go, perhaps its a bit too much... That and the speech repeatedly stated over and over. I used to look forward to these books so much the sailing detail and their quirky style. Shame. And the Lw on the audio grrrr for the love of all that's everything... LOW WATER can you not use your intelligence to say that. Why make that abbreviation. The earlier books did not abbreviate so the narrator must know (she did book 1&2).
