About this listen

First she felt herself being pushed downstairs. Then there was the bowl of poisoned mushroom soup. Finally the tampered-with tablet amongst her sleeping pills was the last straw. Adriana Ford, famous actress and mistress of the house decided to call in Miss Silver. And Maud Silver, with impeccable logic, pointed out that the person who was trying to kill her must be a member of her own household. And then the murders started....

Diana Bishop is very good at putting life into the characters through her reading. Good plot. Keeps you listening to the last.

Great listen.

I can imagine this is not for everyone. Either the stories or the narration. I love both and would recommend these books to anyone who likes old-fashioned whodunits and old-fashioned narration.

Relaxing read

I enjoyed this book but a rather obvious murderer was easy to spot. However it all came to a satisfactory conclusion.

Good light reading

Wentworth has a tendency to be misogynistic but this novel is particularly bad: Women are blamed for their husbands’ shortcomings and expected to tolerate infidelity. Yet again - a feature of Wentworth’s novels - young women are expected to enjoy being manhandled and physically hurt.

It’s also a very tedious story with an obvious suspect.

A waste of a credit and I am particularly disappointed that I can’t continue with this series as I do like the narrator’s voice 🙃
