Various methods of assessing soil demonstrate the care the author takes in enhancing the harvest from healthy, fertile soil. I know a bit about soil. I lived in Colorado for 37 years, and the soil there is clay that blocks the penetration of water deeper into the soil. We constantly worked to augment the clay with sand and organic material, but it was a brutal process. Luckily, we were blessed with many plants that simply appeared and thrived. Some were Tomatillios, with small 3' tall by 3' wide plants that produced over 100 Tomatillios. Wild onions grew near my garden, and I was lucky to see some coming up wild on my property.
The first chapter begins with this quote: "The quality of what is on your plate is entirely dependent upon what is under your feet." The rest of the book explains in depth how good soil produces great results!
I wish I had had this book 30 years ago - it would have helped me so very much to increase the quality and yield of my gardens in Colorado.
Great Book!
