Cori, Jem and Tarn travel to the isolated island of Halcyon to find the greaves, the leg armour that Cori needs to step into her power as Champion of Aquinta. However, as they arrive at Halcyon, they discover that the island is in fact an overgrown forest where sea water is at least ankle-deep, no one can grow any crops and everything belongs to the local wildlife. It’s a miserable swamp ruled by a corrupt Prime Councillor that the people of Halcyon can’t escape.
Cori and her friends decide to free Halcyon’s people and show them that there’s a better way of life away from the island. However, they must each complete a tricky trial to prove their good intentions. Will they be able to win the people’s trust? And will Cori find the piece of armour she desperately needs??
