About this listen

Don't miss this pulse-pounding psychological thriller from NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER Valerie Keogh, author of The Wives and The Nurse. If you love Frieda McFadden, Lisa Jewell, and K. L. Slater you'll love this!

You’d trust your sister with your life—wouldn’t you?

Twin sisters Ellie and Tia were torn apart the day their parents died. Ellie was given the picture-perfect life—marriage, a home, security. Tia was cast aside, growing up in the shadows, unwanted, unloved, and never quite belonging.

Now, after years apart, fate brings them together again. Ellie is desperate to believe this is a chance to rebuild their bond. To finally have the sister she always longed for.

But Tia hasn’t come back to play happy families. She knows the secret Ellie is hiding— a secret that could shatter her perfect marriage and destroy everything she’s built.

Because Tia has been waiting her whole life for this moment. And she isn’t going to let Ellie escape the past—or the truth.

Another brilliant psych thriller from number one, million copy bestselling author Valerie Keogh. Perfect for fans of Frieda McFadden, Lisa Jewell and Keri Beevis.

Too predictable. I knew the twist and found it irritating. Found the husband irritating, he didn’t understand anything.

Interesting twin idea.

I struggled with this review as it did have me on the edge of my seat but more so due to frustration. It was too predictable, you knew what was going to happen before it happened and so it was just like - oh -by the time it arrived. The set ups were too obvious, the few twists and turns were underwhelming and the husband was insufferable. Did I enjoy it? Yes? It was a great premise but it could've been bigger. When I saw how many hours were left I thought, wow what's going to happen to change the fact that I think I know how it ends?! And then literally nothing happened, it ended the way I thought it would. I wasn't rooting for any one of the characters, i just spent a lot of time with a frown on my face thinking that they all deserved it.

just okay?

An absolute tour de force that I devoured in a single sitting, this novel is the definition of "unputdownable." While many authors stumble into the well-worn ruts of the "twin" cliché, Keogh shatters expectations with a premise that is as refreshing as it is unsettling.

The story follows the divergent lives of identical sisters Ellie and Tia. Ellie is the picture of metropolitan success, navigating a high-powered corporate career in London alongside her husband, William. Conversely, Tia—who has spent her life in assisted living—finds solace in the simple, rhythmic ritual of baking bread in rural Scotland.

The friction begins when Tia’s facility shuts down, forcing a reluctant Ellie to open her manicured home to a sister she has spent a lifetime avoiding.

It is a masterclass in domestic tension that begs the question: when two lives this different collide under one roof, what could possibly go wrong?

5/5

Utter perfection.
