Summary

The latest collection of Sherlock Holmes stories by well-known author, Denis O. Smith, provides a variety of puzzling and tangled mysteries for the great detective to unravel.

What is the explanation for the train which arrives at its destination with not a soul on board? What lies behind the sudden, shocking death of one of the members at an exclusive London club? These cases require all of Holmes's unique investigative skills if the truth is to be uncovered.

From Westminster, in the very centre of London, through the English countryside, to the far north of Scotland, follow the exploits of the world's first and only consulting detective.

This is a very good collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories. They are well written and addictive listening. The mysteries are pretty straight forward although I must admit the title story was a surprise. Kevin Greens narration as always was excellent. Recommended listen.
I was kindly given a copy of the book and leave this honest review.

An enjoyable series of cases for Holmes and Watson to unravel. The stories are performed well and I enjoyed the book.

A great set of stories

Could have been written by ACD. You never for one moment felt that it hadn't been. I enjoyed it!

I've listened to a lot of Sherlock Holmes pastiches, including other short story collections by this author, but this one fell flat for me as the stories didn't really grip me.

Story: The stories themselves never quite built momentum, and I finished them feeling a bit bored. Holmes is a bit too passive in some of them.

Narration: Clearly a capable narrator, but the very adenoidal portrayal of Watson became increasingly irritating and didn’t align with my perception of the character (or with most other portrayals).

Underwhelmed
