An excellent book which introduces us to all King Henry's wives. I thought I knew a good deal about this subject but saw some of his relationships in a new light. Excellently written and well narrated. It is one of those books you don't want to end.

Too often the wives of Henry VIII are recorded by history as mere appendages of the man himself. This book addresses this imbalance and gives insight, not only of the characters of the women themselves, but also of what it meant to be a high-born woman in these times.

The story is fast paced and I had a few very late nights, as I couldn't bear to stop listening! I have read other books on the subject, but this is the only one that really looks at the events from the woman's point of view and treats them without pre-conceived judgement.

The narrator was very pleasant to listen to, which always helps. If you are interested in the Tudor period, and the role of women in society and the political sphere, I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

The best book I've listened to in ages.
