About this listen

Fans have described the trilogy as Game of Thrones meets The Three Musketeers.

When Soren is plucked from the streets and given a place at the prestigious academy of swordsmanship, he thinks his dream of being a great swordsman has become a possibility. However, with great intrigues unfolding all around him, Soren discovers that he is little more than a pawn to the ambitions of others.

As he is swept from high society into exile in foreign lands to escape those who see him as a threat, he must rely on a mysterious gift and the lessons learned at the academy if he hopes to survive in a society where disputes are settled with a sword.

The Society of the Swords Trilogy contains the complete series.

The dislikes were minor (small repetitions which worked well to refresh my poor memory) the likes many. A true STORY (fiction) with gentle magic and a little romance. Likeable characters. I thought it was written by a female, perhaps it had a quality that I have only noted before in female authors. I kept listening until done. I enjoyed the narration which was superbly illustrative and drew me into the story without ever drawing attention to the voice per se. I was quite delighted just when I needed a companion in my life. Thank you.

Wonderful long story - I wanted more.

few characters of note. never seeing into the minds of the main cast. antagonist no more than a plot mechanism however pace and excitement makes up for lack of character development. Sollen is not used correctly but secondary characters add we'll get to the narrative.

fast paced without character

I'm used to reading epics where the level of detail and description fill my mind and flesh out the story vividly. So when starting this trilogy I was apprehensive about the writing style. However, the author seems to be able to create great characters and environments with far less embellishment. It makes for a relatively fast paced story but without feeling like you don't know the characters.

I really enjoyed it and it was well worth the one credit it cost me. Definitely worth a listen in my opinion 👍

Thoroughly enjoyable!
