I bought this audiobook as a gift for a close friend after her child’s diagnosis, and I’m really glad I did. It feels steady, respectful, and grounded in real life, not theory or pressure. The guidance is clear without being clinical, and it gently supports both the child and the parent. I appreciated how it focuses on communication, routines, and calm responses in everyday moments. This is the kind of resource you return to on harder days, which is exactly why it made sense as a gift.

Having friends with autistic children, I have tried to be supportive, but up until now, I've not really appreciated what they were going through or how different the experiences could be. Now I feel I understand!. This wonderful book opened my eyes to this wide-ranging condition and the many ways it can be approached, depending on each child's needs. It is full of practical techniques, grounded in science and experience. I thoroughly recommend this book to parents, family members and anyone with friends who have autistic children.

I feel I understand at last!
