Summary

When Joe and Christy Davenport step behind the Oxford-blue-painted door of their 'forever' home, they believe their dreams have come true. Yet the boxes aren't even unpacked before a series of events leads Christy to become obsessed with the previous occupant, the glamorous, enigmatic Amber Fraser, whose departure from Lime Park Road is shrouded in mystery.

What happened to her? And why are Joe and Christy's attempts at friendship with neighbours met with an unnerving silence?

I loved this story. Carefully crafted so that it’s difficult to know what the big reveal will be. Well developed range of characters; some likeable, some not. It’s people driven with insight into deceit, friendship, utter betrayal, love, lust and aspirations.

A clever mix of social climbers and oneupmanship. It kept me intrigued from the off. Excellent narration.

An everyday story of suburban folk

This was my first book by this author. Very engaging. Some excellent writing. Had me gripped.

The narrator very good apart from pronouncing Flaubert as Flambert twice. I found that jarring!

.Recommended.

Had me hooked

A good story but the voice far too prim for the Amber character. Overall enjoyable.

Good yarn.

Really well written, plot draws you in. The characters were unlikeable, but I don't think you're supposed to like them. Bit of a anti climax ending, was hoping for more of a twist.

Gripping story, average ending
