About this listen

When Willow walks out on her own wedding, there's only one place she can go....

Growing up in the island village of Seaview, Willow always dreamed of a bigger life. Then her childhood sweetheart, Luc, betrayed her and she ran, resolving never to look back. Now, 12 years on, her glamorous London life is a mess and the island is her only option.

But she's not the only one back for the summer. Luc is now a world-famous heartthrob musician, and he's finally come home to headline the Isle of Wight's annual music festival.

As Willow untangles her messy past, she stumbles on a secret that could destroy her family, the island's fragile community—and her second chance at love....

Critic reviews

"Rachel Burton once again proves her versatility as a writer. With her signature nostalgia, swoon-worthy hero and wistful setting, this is a romance to whisk you away any time of the year." (Victoria Cooke, author of The Single Mums’ Book Club)

A slow burner - it took more than half of the story to get some sort of denouement to the story but worth it in the end. Be patient !

Slow but lovely

This listen was in two different times, one in the 80's and one was present day but it didn't confuse me.

The author sounded like she really bad experience around bands, maybe she was a groupie herself ?

Lots of family drama, relationship problems and mending of friendships.
It would be nice if the isle of Wight festival really did come about how this book has portrayed but I do know I'm listening to fiction.

I thought the narrator did her job okay except when it comes to American accents.

great storyline, very wholesome, but drags on and on and everyone keeping secrets even if the reason they keeping them don't make sense. one bit of the story lasted at least 6 chapters and every chapter was he knew he should tell her, he will tell her after this bit, he can't tell her it was so frustrating I nearly just skipped 1 min at a time until he eventually told her. and the reason he couldn't tell her in the first place was.... I still really don't know why he couldn't.

narrater was great, storyline great, but it really could have been told in half the time.

hard to get through

American accent got on my nerves a bit but apart from that I really loved this book

Great story. Easy listening. Love the music festival scene

This story was decent enough, but I found it hard-going with listening to the poor American accent the narrator used for a couple of characters. I stuck it out until the end as I did want to hear the ending, but it felt a bit of a chore.

Nice enough story, narration a little hard work
