Critic reviews
"[Narrator Stephen] Fry gives Max a perfect plummy voice and has equal fun with colorful supporting characters and ne'er-do-wells. His lovely mix of realistic conversation and pacing, as well as the occasional slow wink, encourages listeners to succumb in pleasure." ( AudioFile)
Awesome Fry performance which brings slightly archaic text to life

The narration was flawless and brought everything into focus. From now on Stephen Fry's voice for Max will forever be associated with the character.
Such a brilliant listen I found myself stopping and simply listening instead of doing whatever I was doing at the time. Cannot recommend enough!
brilliant
