Soon, destiny brings her to the royal court where she meets Leopold, an infuriatingly alluring prince with a disdain for everything and everyone. Lovely read which felt like old fashioned storytelling.

Apparently it's a gothic retelling of the Grimm brothers Godfather Death and i have to say that the Dreaded End became one of my favourite characters.

It's full of lovely imagery and feels really rich with make believe. There were parts where I wish we were shown more, and parts where i felt we were told things that would have been more impactuful if we were shown... but overall i feel this particular writing style really captures older storytelling which pairs well with the genre. I just felt like I was reading one if the old fairytales as a child again... and I loved that about it.

It's beautifully done.

The narrators voice was lovely and she portrayed the story and characters well. It was a great pairing.

The story isn't fast paced, or a wild ride or anything like that and there's no smut or spice. But it's emotional, sad, happy, lovely, lonely, sweet, heartfelt, romantic, dark and mystical. Its plot is easy but keeps you captivated and hooked.

I 100% recommend The Thirteenth Child if you love a good splash of Once Upon a Time, with a helping of God's, mortals and gifts.

I found the ending rushed, not up to her normal standard., I enjoyed it though a little spicy which was unnecessary felt it was slipped in to meet current expectations

Disappointed
