this is the first boardgame design book I listened to. it wasnt mind blowing but some very good concrete tips and stuff I didnt think of yet. I recommend it if you're just starting out.

Unsurprisingly I’m likly the target audience as some one who wants to make a board game for the first time. This book has some great tips and directions to follow. Guess I’ll know if the books really any good in a couple years if I every do make a game!
