I've previously read all the available books in The Undead series but listening to them really adds to the sense of tension and emotional investment.
Cookie is a wonderful comedian and Dave has his moments too just from how he is with his deadpan responses.
I bawled my eyes out at Lily's experiences in the Fort, when Meredith rallied the team and as Charlie was surrounded and rescued. i care aboit these characters so much and even though I already know the outcomes of each event I still get drawn into the tension thanks to the excellent narration.
I thought the repetition of the infection's thought processes highlighted the way it develops its intelligence and I found that an effective approach (although I can appreciate that others found it jarring).
Onwards to the next installment.

Laughter and sadness continues

Joe Jameson is a star bringing the characters alive ( even the undead ones) with outstanding detail to dialectical range and pitch and he has obviously done his homework regarding the characterisations ranging from the military command voices to the 'posh' voice of Lilly and the brutal edgy language of feral youths whom Maddox leads. There are of course some really gruesome descriptions in the writing but as RR Haywood has stated the series is firmly placed in the horror genre of descriptive writing.
It is a long series but RR Hayward manages to keep the saga edgy despite some of the characters adolescent ramblings regarding love.
