Summary

'A dark, disturbing and highly original thriller. You'll love Grace McGill' MARK BILLINGHAM

'Dark, twisted and compelling, you won't want Grace to clean your house . . .' C.L. TAYLOR

Some people die alone, and someone has to clean what's left behind - houses, bodies, memories, and old, dark secrets.

Grace McGill is an insular, friendless woman, living in Glasgow in her 30s. She has her beloved cat, and she has her own business - deep cleaning the houses of Undiscovereds. People who die alone and stay that way until they are found weeks, sometimes months, later.

While working in the home of a man named Tommy Agnew, her suspicions are aroused by a hidden photograph and a stack of newspapers, all from the same date over many, many years.

Grace can't get the mysterious life and sad death of Tommy Agnew out of her head, and she soon begins an investigation that could cost her her life. The past has stayed buried for many years already, but Grace has never been one to brush things under the carpet . . .

Twisted, twisting, original and sinister. The Undiscovered Deaths of Grace McGill is unforgettable
So original
This is an ingenious, disturbing and chilling thriller in which Grace is an unforgettable character, and not what she seems. Superb storytelling, with an elegant twist

It's not just a clever read - you'll sail through a range of emotions and there's no way you'll forget Grace. I'm struggling to remember reading a book like it before, and what a way to start 2022 reading
Beautifully written with a shocking twist, this remarkable thriller has a unique narrator in Grace McGill, and her voice stays with you long after you read the final page
It's a dark page ripper
This fascinating thriller had me hooked from the first chapter . . . as dark and disconcerting as it is compelling
It's a dark and disturbing novel. It's chilling and haunting. It's original and touching. This book will genuinely be one of your best reads of the 2022
This novel is something a bit different: off-beat, slightly macabre, and not the usual psychological crime drama
This is a very colourful and vivid novel . . . gripping, intense and atmospheric

Set in Glasgow with very realistic descriptions, this most unusual character certainly attracted my attention.
As her life story developed, I was hooked. The characters she met appeared very true to life. The author's own narration helped in this.
After mid way, however I felt less involved and slightly irritated with the slower pace. So glad that I continued as this book finishes really well - I certainly had not predicted the closing chapters. Thank you audible!

A most unusual crime

Really unusual story, cleverly done and beautifully voiced. Makes you think about those people who have fallen through the cracks. I highly recommend this book

Clever and thought provoking

An unusual narrative for the genre. Story told well by the author. Actually, told very well, because I continued to listen despite the appalling narration. A narrator has one thing to do: read out loud, well. Do these studios have no QC at all? Mispronouncing words like 'Formica', stumbling over literally every sentence in the entire book. Apparently blindsided by the appearance of consonants in words. Unaware that sentences may have multiple clauses. Everything delivered in slurred 6 syllable phrases. I get so angry about this stuff, because an OK book read well is a joy. A good book read well can change your perspective. A book, like this, read like a six year old reading a menu, damages the author's credibility. Anyway, I enjoyed it despite the narration.

Interesting angle, Year 3 narration

Such a great listen, brilliant unusual story with believable characters and plot, a refreshing change form the usual hyped up murder suspense novels. The narrator was perfect for it.

Really enjoyed this!

I didn't see the twist coming! Great story, even if I wanted to shout at the protagonist a few times.

Clever tale of deception
