Summary

The New York Times bestselling series!

The first book in L.J. Smith’s New York Times bestselling Vampire Diaries series, the basis of the hit CW TV show starring Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder.

Elena Gilbert is a high school golden girl, used to getting what she wants. And who she wants. But when the boy she’s set her sights on—the handsome and haunted Stefan—isn’t interested, she’s confused. She could never know the real reason Stefan is struggling to resist her:

Stefan is a vampire, and Elena’s in danger just by being around him. What’s more, Stefan’s dark, dangerous vampire brother Damon has just arrived in town. And wherever Damon goes, trouble always follows.

Fans of The Vampire Diaries TV show will find this book packed with the same kind of heart-stopping suspense, fierce romances, and jaw-dropping surprises that they know and love, all brought to life by New York Times bestselling author L.J. Smith.

This book is the start of a brilliant series. Dark and intense, the novel sucks the reader in from its opening sentence and doesn't let up. Sensitively written, with characters that leap to life the moment they come into being, The Awakening starts an emotional roller coaster that doesn't let up for the entire series. The cliffhanger ending for each book sets the scene up for the next and the series isn't finished yet. A must-listen for any lovers of teen vampire sagas.

I loved this book as it was exciting. I would recommend it to 11-16 year olds. My favourite part was when Stephan and Elena shared blood

Loved it!

I have been a fan of the show for a while, having watched it during lockdown. I didn’t know The Vampire Diaries was a book series, having read the reviews I was sceptical about the books because there are so many differences between them and the show. I can honestly say this book did not disappoint I could not stop listening, the narration is really well done, Rebecca Mozo is brilliant. I also have the kindle version of this title which is really well written. The only down side is Audible only have the first 4 novels so Audible please consider getting the rest of the Vampire Diaries novels,

Great Book

I'm one of the person who looked at the first few episodes of the show, and from the beginning I didn't like Daemon, I dropped the show at the first season, then I switched to the books, now I couldn't say that I liked the first volume, but I want to see how the story progress. I'm a sucker of romance novels, and I wish from the bottom of my heart that Elena remains with Stephen, but I know from my sister that doesn't happen in the show, I want to see how it goes here, what's happening with her and Daemon and Stephen. I hope at least that it has some kind of happy ending.
The reader was flawless, I like the tone, the voice, it some kind of kind and peaceful, and I like the fact that it's a woman who reads it
