About this listen

In 1668, hangman Jakob Kuisl, his daughter Magdalena, and her husband Simon are traveling to the town of Bamberg. But what was planned as a family vacation soon becomes a nightmare: there is a murderer in Bamberg leaving the severed limbs of victims in the trash outside the city. When rumors quickly spread that the murders are the work of a werewolf, Jakob Kuisl must prove the superstition wrong and embark on a search for the "devil of Bamberg". This thrilling fifth entry in Oliver Pötzsch's Hangman's Daughter series follows the continuing adventures and mysteries that surround the Kuisl family.

I am absolutely hooked to this series of books by Oliver Pötzsch. The characters are so well developed, and as a reader find myself completely invested in them. The plot had great depth and pace kept surprising me throughout. I also love the narration by Grover Gardener, he vocally depicts exactly how I'd imagined Jakob to sound. I whole heartedly recommend this book, in both written and audio. I'm not going to go into writing a break down of the story overview...take a chance, and just read it/listen to it yourself, and I really hope you love it as much as I have come to.

The Hangman's Daughter series never fails to please. I've read almost all of them and I love all the grotesque aspects and complicated but adorable characters. Well written, perfectly narrated.
