About this listen

Calliope Thorne is a good girl. A straight-A student, a rule follower, and an aspiring ballerina.

But most of all, she’s a good sister to her four older brothers. Brothers whom she loves and adores to pieces. Brothers who love and adore her to pieces in return.

And who hate just one and one thing only – Reed Jackson.

Rich, arrogant, and the most popular guy at Bardstown High, Reed is Callie’s brothers’ enemy and she has sworn to stay away from him.

Until one night when she wanders into the woods and finds herself in his clutches. A villain with pretty gray eyes and a seductive smirk.

Until he asks her to dance for him with a look in those eyes that makes her forget why falling for her brothers’ enemy is a bad idea.

Note: This is a prequel for A Gorgeous Villain. The story concludes in A Gorgeous Villain.

This is the start of the story of Calliope and Reed with their meeting when just teenagers. Stephanie Kay and Gideon Frost carry on this story in A Gorgeous Villain, and this book sets the scene bringing us up to the traumatic events of the cliffhanger ending. I did find their youth a bit difficult at times, but it definitely describes the intense emotions if young love and the pain that it can inflict 💖💖💖💖

Intense prequel.

I loved this book, it is a prequel to “A Gorgeous Villain”, the second book book in the St. Mary’s Rebels series, a series of interconnected standalone novels. This is my first book written by Saffron A. Kent, I enjoyed her writing style, her descriptive details bring you in to the story right along side the characters allowing you to see what they are seeing, feeling and thinking. The characters are realistic, easy to related to and connect with, she makes it easy to care about them too. Calliope “Callie” Thorne, a freshman at Bardstown High School, he is an aspiring ballerina and the perfect student. She has four older, over protective brothers, she lost her Mom at a young age and her father was not in the picture but her oldest brother, Conrad, became her legal guardian. She was always a good girl and sister but now she has a crush on a senior but no ordinary senior but the one her brothers do like, and her bother Ledger’s rival. Reed Roman Jackson is the popular boy in school and has a reputation with girls, he is also arrogant and full of himself. Callie is drawn to him and can not stay away despite it being a betrayal to her brothers. There is a lot of story packed in this novella sized book, it is a beautifully plotted story, I loved the dialogue between the two lead characters, intense at times and almost like foreplay. I also loved that ending, I am looking forward to what happens in “A Gorgeous Villain”, I know it is going to be amazing! Thank you Saffron A. Kent for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Stefanie Kay is a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. She had a complete understanding of the characters she portrayed, gave each a voice that suited that character’s persona to a tee, she was believable in each role she played and sounded just as I pictured them to sound. You could hear how much heart she put into her work as she captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into her performance. She set the perfect tone for the story and handled the back-and-forth dialogue with ease, never missing a beat. Stefanie Kay is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the awesome listen!
