About this listen

First published in 1908, The Wind in the Willows belongs to a golden age of children’s book. These charming tales of the riverbank, describing the adventures of Ratty, Mole, Badger, and their irrepressible but conceited friend, Toad of Toad Hall, have become classics loved as much, perhaps, by adults as by children.

This classic is good for any age. The description and nature are restful and the story is great. All the characters are so well drawn that you can see them all in your minds eye.

Very restful to listen to at night particularly

Beautifully read and a lonely story

I have been an admirer of Martin Jarvis since 1967 when I saw him in “The Forsyte Saga” on BBC 1 - I wish he’d read all the books instead of only the first. His voice is perfect and very expressive.
