About this listen

Death is the first step on Jerry's path to ultimate power. Ostracized by his fellow villagers, hunted by bandits, and watched by the Royal Guard's least elite squad, Jerry is called to balance creating a lovely home with practicing his craft and unleashing death and destruction on his enemies.

Unfortunately, taking it slow is not an option. Wizard supremacists tour the Kingdom, Archmages enact devious plans, and the world needs Jerry more than his village does. Adventure calls—death is overrated, anyway.

Thrust in the middle of ancient conspiracies, Jerry is not only determined to survive and thrive…but also to enjoy the process.

Experience this laugh-fueled slice-of-death Progression Fantasy by Valerios, best-selling author of Road to Mastery. Follow Jerry down his path of necromancy as he grows in power, proving his unorthodox methods may hold a lot more merit than it seems.

I like the premise very much - a necromancer being a good guy. The story was fine for me. Lit-RPG-like but without RPG-game nonsense like over-explaining skills and producing numbers. Main character is a bit chaotic - once seems very naive, once we see he just acts naive to be annoying/disrespectful for adversary, once seems wise. Some parts of the story and foreshadowing were crude, but not as much to be painful to read (for me). It wasn't full-on comedy and many puns were bad, but like on-purpose bad. Strange thing is that rationally I find this book mediocre at best, far away from level of the Pratchett, but still I was very entertained and I like it. Storyteller voice was annoying at first, but got used to it after few chapters.

Fine story with interesting premise - if you want to be entertained, not overanalyze things or be thoughtful.

this book was very hard to listen to. so much so i stopped after 5 hours. i dont know if it was written for children. it is very bland, like plain bread with out a spread or filling. just bland.
the puns are poor
the characters annoying.

Bounces from mediocre to bland and not sure which is worse.
Just to be clear adult jokes and f bombs, this isn't a kids book, it's just a painfully bad book, terrible writing, with embarassing attempts at humour and a bare minimum performance,
I'm not even sure if you could do a worst job on purpose.

Anyone who truly completes this book deserves a medal!

just don't know, maybe for very young children, it's not funny at all, if you think it funny to have no common sense and every thing will just vall in to place and work out for the best. this book is for you.

just don't know
