When the alchemist sends Bertwoin to work in the château’s kitchen. He hopes to prevent a murder, but fails. Now they must track down a devious and deranged killer, before Bertwoin pays for his crimes. This is an excellent story and the picture of rural life in France is vivid.
The narration is excellent.

This is an excellent sequel to the Ploughmans Plight wich I would recommend reading/listening to before this one so you are familiar with the characters. Well written with a good cast of characters we are now in the South of France and a noblemans son is murdered, before this however a kitchen boy is accidently murdered. Once again the ploughman is accused of the murders and the master or Alchemist is required to prove his innocence and discover what really happened with the boys. There are some very gory scenes and thus this is probably not for people with a weak stomach, I for one will never view sausages quite the same way in future. ☺ Highly recommended. Jason Bishops narration is excellent and really brings the whole story to life.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest unbiased review.
