Derral, I am most encouraged because you have done this from a place of faith! I have set up a YouTube channel for the kids and I after the Holy Spirit asked me to use the medium to teach people about what we do to achieve long natural hair - Ruphi Curl Chronicles. I did this 2 mornings into reading your book. I had had the book in my library for a few weeks after Myron Golden recommended it. Your book has been golden and has guided me tremendously. I am not the best with technology but hopefully I have garnered enough to keep planting and wait for the Lord to bring the increase. Thank you for doing what you do. God bless you and keep you.

solid advice here, with a good amount of depth and a supplementary digital mini course to add more context. I found the references to Mr Beast bordering on the obsessive, and I would have liked to see a larger variety of case studies. I get it, the author and Mr Beast have a working relationship. I got that in the first few minutes of the book so don't need to be reminded in every chapter (that's what it feels like). the most powerful aspect of the book is probably the final chapter. that's not to devalue the rest of the book (this focuses on the why) but the final chapter focuses on the how. I'd like to see this expanded with more case studies so we can see in real terms what goal setting and action planning looks like in reality, focussing on those that have nailed it. I also didn't like the fact that the author said right at the beginning he couldn't be bothered to read this book as he was too busy, which set a discouraging tone.

I read a few reviews then decided to make up my own mind. I knew Derral Eves so I was a bit disappointed it was not him narrating - except at the end. However, Tom Parks is OK. Some people complained that the text keeps driving you to Derral's site but honestly I feel I got much more than my two-coffees worth of cost out of this book - Derral genuinely wants to help and his ideas are very good and make sense. All you have to do is to action them - that's the hard bit. If I wanted a bit more it would be an analysis of the kinds of videos that are made - from talking head to documentaries, and an acknowledgement that the amount of effort varies widely in making different genres - drama and structured documentary being way more expensive and time consuming to make than the talking head live and interview streams. Yet of course Google treats them all the same, educational or not, a labour of love or not, all that matters is popularity. It means that many types of film making are just not sustainable on YouTube - which is a failing of YT I think - there could perhaps be weighted revenue in favour of quality crafted production - however, this is never discussed and it is assumed that the people's choice is the final measure of quality. It is perhaps the most important but many of the greatest works in history would never have been made if that were generally true. It's a good book though and well worth the money - you're not in the game if you won't shell out 7.99 for your future.
