About this listen

Sadomasochism. Obsession. Death.

A whirlpool of darkness churns at the heart of a macabre ballet between two lonely young women in an internet chat room in the early 2000s - a darkness that threatens to forever transform them once they finally succumb to their most horrific desires.

a very rushed ending, short and not worth a full credit- wait until its in a sale if you can. A glimpse at an interesting sub/dom relationship but ultimately shallow. Animal cruelty felt out of place, could have been an interesting point had the rest been fleshed out.
Good voice acting. The repetition of the characters usernames and emails almost made me stop reading out of irritation but given the hype around this book I pushed on.

a glimpse of something interesting but rushed

this story certainly works if you’re looking to pass time, but for the most part i found it to be a little lacking on substance and pushing incredibly hard on crafting a grotesque image that really loses its purpose in this story. despite it being centred around two characters entirely, the story feels a little bit as though it’s letting us down with regards to characterisation.

maybe just not the novella for me, but as i say. if you’re looking to pass the time and it’s floating in your library, it does the trick.

a filler story for sure

I’ve heard a lot about this book and decided to give it a ready considering it’s so short. I kind the way the book is laid out very unique; the fact it’s through chat messages and emails makes a little more interesting. This book does have its gory and unsettling moments, but isn’t too much which I appreciate sometimes. The ending is a little abrupt and sort of came out of no where; I would’ve liked to have had maybe a few more pages just to see a little more of the out come. But overall a solid story that is worth a quick read.

Unique, creepy & unsettling

It had great potential and then just withered away at the end. It could have had another few chapters and gotten darker and had a much better ending rather than the abrupt stop.

Weak

Someone recommended this as a twisted horror thriller, I was neither thrilled or horrified. Story builds to nothing.

Disappointed
