Summary

Here is one of the greatest English comic novels read by incontrovertible king of English comic audiobook readers, Martin Jarvis. Three men, worried about their health and in search of different experiences, set off 'up the river' in a boat. Jerome's delightful novel, dating from 1900, paints a vivid picture of innocent fun.

I'd forgotten just how much fun this book is - amusing, innocent, winsome and excellently narrated by Martin Jarvis. The description of Harris attempting to sing a comic song is superb - I burst out laughing. So much fun in these depressing, Covid-obsessed times. Wonderful escapism - Thank you..

Excellent narration - well done Jarvis

The book is essentially a series of anecdotes, wildly embellished to inject humour, stitched together to make a story.
The orator is very good, but the humour just does not work for me. Think ‘last of the summer wine’ at the end of the Victorian era and you pretty much have it.
The embellishments throughout the book we are just silly and got irritating very quickly. To be honest, I couldn’t wait for it to finish.
Just can’t recommend this one I am afraid.

A bit of a struggle!
