Summary

To find the love they need, two men must overcome a world of differences.

Jeremy Ringer enjoys the important things in life: surf and sand - beach and bartending - practicing Taoism. Until a death in the family sends him across the state, and he realizes that the simple things are not enough.

Ollie Mendosa is only interested in one thing - the new police app he's developing. That is until he meets one of the crime victims, the beach-loving Jeremy Ringer. Ollie’s protective nature is brought out in full force, and he can't resist the temptation of a summer fling.

They’re drawn together in a plan to enjoy the summer, but the the heat is on when the criminals return.

A stand-alone MM romance.

I had heard good things about this author and so seized on the book when I got the chance. I’m struggling to write this review. There were some things I liked. Unfortunately, I think partly due to the narration, there were several things I didn’t like. Mark Reece Healey is a new narrator to me and if I see him again, I’ll definitely listen to the sample. He made certain choices with this book that just didn’t work for me. Each character’s voice was distinct – I’ll give him that – but quite a few irritated me, especially the women and the Ollie Mendosa’s partner. I wasn’t thrilled with Ollie’s voice, but I adapted.

I struggled at times to figure out exactly what was going on. I’m not a techie, so the whole app thing was a bit over my head. Once I figured things out, I was pretty okay with the plotline. I’m not sure I’m all in with cops sleeping with victims, but writers take artistic licence and it does happen in real life.

I am interested in checking out the author’s Holeshot series and plan to head there soon. Please don’t let my mixed feelings about the audio be the last word. Others have enjoyed the book. I do recommend you listen to the sample.

Honestly, the romance in this just didn't work for me. I didn't buy the attraction between Jeremy and Ollie, and as much as I wanted to enjoy it, it just never got there for me.

The overall tension of the story regarding Jeremy being taken advantage of didn't make a whole lot of sense, nor did it add anything to the story, it was just sort of weird. Adding in the app that Ollie had created that was being tested out was strange as well.

The narration was clear and the different voices were obvious. I had no issues deciphering who was talking at all. I didn't care for either of the voices at all. I felt like Ollie's NYC accent sounded more like a lisp and it just detracted me from the story.

Unfortunately, this just really didn't do it for me.

Not what I had expected

A Time for Love is a contemporary romance that quickly turns into a dangerous mystery. Jeremy travels back home when he gets the news of his aunt’s death. While Jeremy deals with his late aunt’s belongings, he makes friends with a local couple. What a starts as a friendship quickly turns into something much more sinister. Lucky for Jeremy, he meets Ollie Mendosa, a gruff police officer, who shows him that there may be more to life than just going with the flow. The romance between Ollie and Jeremy was passionate and intense, and quickly shifted from a casual, one-night stand into something more lasting. The plot had all the Hollywood flair that makes action and mysteries dramatic and fun. The police work was not accurate, but it fit with the plot and made the story fun. The audiobook was narrated by Mark Reece Healey, a new-to-me narrator who did a decent job with the audio.

A New Path

MM, Slow burn, Contemporary, romance with drama and angst. Two men who both struggle with issues from childhood that cause them difficulties having close relationships meet. They both have Feelings for the other but have alot to overcome including they live in different states and the group of thieves that have targeted Jeremy. HEA. I'm left 80/20 on my opinion of the narration, I dislike several of the characters voices but one of the main characters voices and the general narration were good.

Changing His Path.
