Couldn’t stop listening. Would recommend this book. The fact that it’s a true story is freaky.

I'm not sure why I wanted to listen to this true tale of the depravity of one man, curiosity? Interest? This story is well told and well narrated, but a troubling listen. I am not sorry I chose it, but it will stay with me for a long time. If you're prone to nightmares maybe give it a miss.

Engrossingly told without being sensational, not prone to the Satanic Panic pitfalls that other true crime books from roughly the same time are prone to, and excellent at covering all sides of this small community's experience. Definitely worth the time for the listen!

Having spent time in Missoula 20 years ago, I met a man who was reading this book. Finally got to listen to it here. Well told and researched story. Terrible man though, the protagonist I mean.
