The Bachelor meets The Hunger Games. Ten women. A deadly contest. Only one can win the Sun King's heart.

Lor has endured twelve long years of torment under the Aurora King's rule. Her only desire is to get free and pay him back for every moment of misery she's endured.

When a surprise release finds her in the hands of the Sun King, Lor is thrust into the spotlight as she competes against nine other tributes for the role of queen. If she wins his heart, she'll earn her freedom and finally get her revenge.

But Lor doesn't belong in the Sun Queen trials. Not only does she not understand why she was freed, she isn't a citizen of the Sun King's court. The other tributes resent her presence and will stop at nothing to ensure Lor is wiped off the gameboard—permanently.

Now Lor must win because if she loses, she dies. Or worse, she'll be sent back into the hands of the Aurora King.

This glittering fae romance is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Jennifer Armentrout, and Raven Kennedy. Trial of the Sun Queen is the first book in the Artefacts of Ouranos series with an eventual happy ever after.

Unlike the other reviews I didn't find this like ACOTAR / TOG, it's not in the same league but it's a fun, easy story. I wish they swapped narration throughout the book using the male narrator for male characters instead of dividing it by chapter. It's a shame as the male narrator Corvin King, well let's just say he's the reason I stayed with this book. An easy, frivolous story that won't rock your world like ACOTAR / TOG but doesn't set your teeth on edge like the endless details in Jennifer L. Armentrout's books.

Holy gods the male narrator would make a shopping list sound wonderful

Fun tale, moved along at a good pace. Seemed very predictable but the end did peak the interest for the next one

Predictable until the twist

Couldn't put this down! Know it's got a similar theme to a lot of books, trail situation, fae high lords etc but I loved the FMC and listened to it in about 24 hours and am now on the next book, which is also very good so far. So I'd recommend it ⭐️

Brilliant book

Conflicted with this one. The story is great with a lot of potential, but something with this book just fell flat. I'm not sure if it's a mixture of the terrible narrating by Soneela Nankin (FMC) where it sounds like she's in constant pain and anguish, (She narrates men better) or the insufferable personality of the FMC, Lor. I haven't disliked a main character in a very long time. She makes Bella Swan seem like the most chill person ever lol.

I had to quit the audiobook and continue the story by reading it on ebook instead as I couldn't stand the sound or Lor being in constant turmoil. The male narrator for the MMC was good but his microphone sensitivity is far too high. Could hear his every single breath, inhales/exhales, and it was just too distracting. Sounded like he was out of breath and walking uphill. Shame, because his voice is amazing and fits the MMC well. He should narrate romance books because then it would suit better. I might pick up one of the other books that he narrated instead of continue with this title. He does have a very pleasant voice to listen to.

Good story, but fell flat.
