About this listen

The complete series in a single offering!

Build a tribe. Kill monsters. Become a master.

After passing through a portal, test pilot Jack Hawthorne finds himself in the mysterious land of Agraria.

It has everything in abundance–beautiful women, plentiful resources, and more than a few things that want to kill him.

Now Jack must build his own tribe from the ground up if he wants to have a chance at surviving–and begin working towards the creation of his very own empire.

Excellent harem fantasy

The story isn't bad, although there is a lot of irritating parts with the main character constantly making references to Earth that have no relevance and just confuse everyone around him. I know it's part of the initial story, but it's.... irritating. The main story is ok, not ground breaking, but still good easy listening, what drags it down is the harem aspect of it. I normally rather enjoy harem stories, but this one hasn't been done well. The intimate scenes are written as though they were thought up by an adolescent school boy, not someone who's ever actually encountered such things, and as such seem somewhat flat. I enjoy erotica, but this just feels off. Lots of women are insanely beautiful and after one night with the main character are pledging their lives to him on the grounds of him being the best lover ever. It's not bad enough to abandon, but it definitely could have been done better.

The narration is ok, although the US pronunciations can be a bit jarring to my non US ears, and the male voice actor is a little too monotone. The female voice actor is a lot more lively with her reading, with a lot more emotion being put into the characters and certainly brings the overall performance rating up in my opinion.

Overall, definitely worth a credit for the omnibus, not the greatest, but not the worst either. I wouldn't want to buy each book individually, but for the hours of entertainment you get with this collection, it's worth getting in this format.

Please note that I'm writing this review after listening to the first seven hours. I fully intend to listen to the rest, and will update this review if I feel that my overall opinion has changed by the end.

Comes across as an adolescent fantasy
