Summary

Two souls, forever entwined… and running for their lives.

Nyssa Blacksea is a wanted woman. The Empire she once served now hunts for her and her unlikely new companion, Quinn. It's only a matter of time until the two women are found and executed. Desperate and with nowhere to turn, Nyssa and Quinn hatch an insane plan—offer the Empire its oldest enemy in exchange for their freedom.

But the path to their freedom is fraught with assassins, heart-breaking betrayal, strange gods… and a dangerous queen who demands Nyssa to submit. Or be broken. Complicating everything is Nyssa's growing affection for Quinn. Both are inextricably linked by magick that they barely understand and struggle to control.

Facing incredible odds and her own mortality, Nyssa has to confront her fears—and her feelings—or succumb to those who wish to destroy her.

For listeners who love unique epic fantasy set against a semi-modern backdrop, featuring a sapphic enemies-to-lovers slow burn romance. Unbound will appeal to fans of Arcane, The Legend of Korra, and Gideon the Ninth.

Just. Great characters. Great story. Great plot. Can’t believe I waited this long to begin this book series. The only thing that threw me off was the male narrator. I had a hard time understand him, and his narrating style didn’t do it for me.

Loved the story. Absolutely wonderful.

Why?! Why would you introduce a second narrator for the second book? The male narrator’s voice is awful and gravelly a complete contrast to the female narrator from the first book and the accompanying female narrator from this book. This makes no sense jumping from one narrator to another, chapter to chapter completely changing the characters personalities with the voices he uses with every switch of narrator. It’s not even like you used the narrators to read certain characters…this completely ruins an otherwise great book! I just hope the next instalment hasn’t been read the same way!!

Great story and characters but Horrendous male narrator!

The author has written a fantastic story and the female narrator who performed book 1 has continued with her fantastic performance but at some point someone has decided “I know what we need, a male narrator” KNOW ONE ASKED!
No shade on him I’m sure he’s a great performer for a different book but this series didn’t need it. It’s so distracting and he changes all the voices which makes you feel a different type of way about a character. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why this has been done and it’s so infuriating.
