About this listen

Ethan's story is finally here in this spin off series from Marla Josephs' Alexander Ranch series. The team is still fighting crime and solving cases with a few new faces. This case has Ethan working with Sasha to find out who is harassing a teacher at the local school and trying to frame their client. Or, is their client guilty? As the letters turn from harsh accusations to hostile threats, the team must work fast to solve this one before someone gets hurt.©2017 Marla Josephs (P)2017 Marla Josephs Contemporary Contemporary Romance Romance Romantic Suspense Suspense

To be honest, this wasn't my favourite book by Marla Josephs. This book has a lot of potential but falls short of the mark for me. I think that has more to do with this story being a part of a series. While it is stand-alone, there are lots of subtle tie-ins, mentions and suggestions from previous books that lead me to believe this book would be more enjoyable within the context of the others. Unfortunately I haven't read or heard any other books from the Alexander Ranch series. The characters and their abilities seem interesting and I am curious to know more about the previous books in the original series.

Ethan and Sasha are both characters with special abilities. Ethan can heal and Sasha can pick up energy signatures, for the lack of a better description. They come together in order to help solve a case that seems to be targetting Sasha's friend's brother. I found it a little disappointing that Ethan's heightened abilities didn't really add value to the story and Sasha's ability only marginally helped piece together the clues. I felt their unique characteristics could have really enhanced the plot by adding an element of action. That said, there is plenty of heat between Sasha and Ethan.

D.C. Cole brings the story to life with his narration, carefully showcasing the subtle humourous, serious and sexy nuances.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
