About this listen

Isabella and her new family have been captured and imprisoned in the underground city of Mt. Weather. They and other captive mutants face certain death cleaning lethal radiation zones outside unless Dr. Rosario's cure can save them.

But can Isabella's brother Luke and the Mt. Weather rebels convince enough of the army that the mutants are worth saving? Without their help, the mutants are doomed.

In the final book of the trilogy the story threads are brought together as mutant and human combine to overthrow the tyranny that was manipulating the humans against the mutants. Great narration brought the adventure to life with well thought out characters and plot lines. The series has been a great listen and drew to a very satisfying conclusion.

Under the mountain the 3rd book in the series is just as good as the first 2 in the series . I will definitely be watching for any other books from the author. Narration is also very clear.

The third and final book in the Into the Outside trilogy finds Malcolm and his family separated from his Isabella, the former, being mutants, scheduled to work on clean up dreams outside in the heavily radiation polluted lands until death, whilst Isabelle enjoys comfort within Mount Weather. But she finds unexpected allies in her determination to save her loved ones.

This surprising post apocalyptic series continues to explore people at their best - and theirworst. Slow moving, as far as actual fighting is concerned, it still holds thrills and tensions as well as providing an engaging storyline within a well developed world.
Ann Bumback's narration is, in tune with the whole book, a pleasant one, her voice soft, warm and slow, with mostly well differentiated voices, although sometimes lacking intonation in the connecting text. Unfortunately, however, when the action heats up, her narration fails to do so, leaving the listener with a feeling of disconnect which, added to the frequent, bizarre pauses within sentences (as in 'Quite literally to - pause - change - pause - the world', or 'As soon as she looked - pause - the pillls...' and many, many others) combined with often strange intonations, considerably diminished the power of the happenings.

A good series, though, with interesting world building and thrills along the way, this is a solid science fiction story which can be enjoyed by young and old alike.

I really enjoyed this instalment the most of the trilogy. The narrator continues to give life to this book and it’s characters , she really suits the storyline.

I loved the post nuclear world created under the mountain in this instalment and the hot of new characters introduced. Put it this way, if there are a 4th book.....I would definitely listen to it. Enjoy.
