Summary
Matthew Walsh doesn't have feelings, and he likes it that way. Between breathing life into his family's third generation Boston architecture shop, keeping the peace with his five siblings, and competing in triathlons, he doesn't have much time for feelings. At least that's the case until Lauren Halsted tumbles into his life.
The feisty, beautiful blonde isn't what he wants and definitely not what he expects. She's so much more. Lauren Halsted doesn't have time and that's turning into a real problem for her. Losing focus isn't something Lauren does with any regularity. She has checklists and to-do lists and action plans a mile long. She doesn't have distractions and she doesn't let anyone tell her what to do.
When she trips down a flight of stairs and into her architect's arms, she gives into distraction for one night. They weren't looking but they found each other anyway.

The storyline is realistic (though the majority of characters are very clearly well-educated, professional people leading solidly middle class lives). Listeners won't hear scenes of kidnap or ones involving unexpected pregnancies. It's obvious that this is a simple retelling of the growth of a complicated relationship. Despite the fact that it's well outside my normal listening genre (I usually opt for something much faster darker), I loved it and ended up staying up all night to finish it in one go.
The narration is outstanding and both voice actors read wonderfully. Christian Fox and Lucy Rivers are two of my favourite voice actors and both brought great depth and warmth to their performances. Given that they included a cast of characters who usually had a lot to say, the fact that all the main players had clearly recognisable voices of their own only added to my enjoyment of the narration. Their expression of the wide range of emotions felt by the main and subsidiary families helped to ensure that I felt fully invested in what was happening.
This was free in the Plus catalogue when I finally got round to listening to it. I liked it so much I've bought it so I can listen again at my leisure. I'll definitely be checking out other books in the series and wider amongst Ms Canterbury's previous work. One of the best audiobooks I've listened to this year!
Lovely, gentle, realistic and sexy story
