About this listen

Five book collection: first five states in the United States of True Crime series.

Sixty chilling true crime cases of murders, kidnappings, and serial killers from across the United States!

Some of the shocking cases included in these volumes:

Amy Bishop: Harvard educated professor who made national headlines after her shooting spree at a university in Alabama. However most people never realized this was not the first time she shot someone to death.

Steven Harris Downs: The brutal murder of a young indigenous Alaska woman haunted the state for decades until DNA technology revealed the identity of her murderer.

Winnie Ruth Judd: Shocked the nation in the 1930s when she confessed to killing her roommate and traveling with the dismembered body in her luggage.

Ronald Gene Simmons: Father who murdered 14 members of his family in cold blood before going into town and shooting others on his hit list.

Gerald and Charlene Gallego: Husband and wife duo who held girls and young women as sex slaves before murdering them. Despite her heinous crimes, the wife is currently free after testifying for the prosecution.

Mardiros Iskenderian: Millionaire restauranteur who shot his mother and sister in a murder/suicide dispute over the family business.

Most of these stories are between 10 to 20 minutes and contains enougyh information on each case to give the listener/reader enough knowledge of the crime and the perps.

As someone who listens to a lot of true crime podcasts, this was interesting as there were some new cases but the ones I knew about (Jodi Arias, Isreal Keyes) were very superficial and lacking in detail. If you are not a huge true crime buff, this would be a great place to start. If you are a true crime lover, you will find the lack of detail rather frustrating.

The narration was well done and easy to listen to on the whole.

Lots to listen to!

I really enjoyed this volume, it kept me hooked without missing information. I’ve always enjoyed true crime, so these short chapters were perfect for me. All chapters were between 5-20 minutes, so perfect if you don’t have a lot of time to delve into a fully story of true crime. I look forward to when we get the next volume, because I’m sure it will be just as gripping as this one
