Making friends as an adult has been harder than I expected, so I gave this book a try. It offered simple, realistic ideas on how to start conversations and build genuine connections without feeling awkward. I’ve already joined a local group and reached out to someone I lost touch with. The advice felt practical and easy to apply in real life. If you’re looking for ways to meet people and form solid friendships, I’d recommend giving this a read.

I had come across some literature in regard to making friends in books that are meant for teens; but this was the first time I had come across this same topic for adults. When I see this as a crucial part of the adult life I see it serving a different role. This book offer you simple ways to go about developing meaningful connections as adults. Some ideas shared are interest specific such joining group class centered on arts, health, volunteering. Emphasis was given to categorizing friendships, we are invited to see the benefits we bring to each other. I though this was a great point because it also dictates you level of commitment to relationships. The ideas for maintaining long distance relationships are practical. I enjoyed reading this book.

It breaks things down in a way that doesn’t make you feel like you’re following some forced “networking” script. Also, I liked that it covered everything how to start conversations, how to reconnect with old friends, and even how to handle long-distance friendships. It’s not just about “making friends” but actually building meaningful connections, which is what really matters. (:
