Summary

'Earnest, raw, and sexy' ELENA ARMAS

'Heartache wrapped in a happy ending' BAL KHABRA

The follow-up to the TikTok sensation Unsteady which follows hopeless romantic Ro and player – on and off the ice – Freddy as they form an unexpected bond.

Matt 'Freddy' Fredderic is all smiles – at least on the surface. On the ice, he’s the star left winger for the Waterfell Wolves with a stellar reputation in bed. But in the classroom, he’s retaking failed classes and struggling with dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD. Now tied to a National Hockey League contract upon graduation, Freddy needs help to pass biology.

Ro Shariff has a history of terrible luck in love – and now, she is Freddy’s tutor. Trying to convince herself that she’s very happy with her on-again/off-again boyfriend, Ro is desperate for real affection. As her tutoring sessions with Freddy lead to late-night phone calls and an understanding of each other’s pains, a friendship emerges between them. And, inevitably, a wistful secret pining hidden by them both.

Together, they will show each other how easy it is to love the right person, no matter their flaws.

Critic reviews

'Earnest, raw, and sexy, Unloved brims with tenderness and heart. In her sophomore novel, Corinne delivers the college romance of my dreams. This is more than a love story, it’s a journey of self-discovery, a beautiful coming-of-age, and a song about healing and being seen for all those pieces you hide. To be loved really is to be seen, and I guarantee you’ll find pieces of yourself in Ro, Freddy, and the rest of the gang at Waterfell' (Elena Armas)
'Peyton Corinne delivers another slap shot with this college hockey romance. A love story brimming with well-rounded, nuanced characters that keep you hooked and wanting more – with the signature Peyton Corinne heartache wrapped in a happy ending' (Bal Khabra)
'Unloved is a gorgeous coming-of-age story about finding love where you least expect it. Emotional, raw, and full of poignant lessons about seeing and being seen even when we think we don’t deserve it – Corinne is a force to be reckoned with' ( Lana Ferguson, USA Today bestselling author of The Nanny)
'Achey and deeply sweet, with heaps of profound moments, Unloved will chip away at your heart but leave you with a beautiful new mosaic from the pieces by the end. I love how this author weaves serious issues into her characters’ lives and gives them such well-earned love in spite of them. I’ll read anything Peyton writes' (Tarah DeWitt, USA Today bestselling author of Savor It)
'Unloved absolutely overflows with rich emotion and utter sexiness. I was so engrossed in witnessing Ro and Freddy make their way toward a love they both deserved that I devoured it in one sitting, and then mourned the fact that it was over. Peyton Corinne navigates delicate themes with grace and empathy, and has created a cast of series characters that are so easy to root for. Don’t let the title fool you—I loved everything about this book' (Jessica Joyce, USA Today bestselling author of You, With a View and The Ex Vows)
'Peyton Corinne’s storytelling is unmatched! Unloved is an angsty, sexy, emotional journey that left me breathless' (Farrah Rochon, New York Times bestselling author of The Dating Playbook)
'Corinne’s second novel is an emotional powerhouse. Ro and Freddy share everything with each other: fears of not being good enough for their friends, details of their harmful previous romantic relationships, and the deep feelings of grief related to illness and loss of parents. They have to learn to trust themselves and each other in the midst of the pressures that come with transitioning from college to adulthood. Their evolution from friends to lovers is a classic slow burn, and it makes for an angsty and deeply affecting read. Deeply moving and emotional'

I was wrong. I might like it more. I feel a little emotionally run over I'll be honest but it was so beautiful. I truly loved this book. If youve read the first and not the second yet - what are you doing!? If you haven't read the first yet - get reading it then come back and read this!

I didn't think I could like it was much as the first

I really enjoyed book 1 so preordered book 2. Wow!!! What can I say, it has been one of the most emotional, beautifully written books I've ever had the pleasure of reading and listening to. I have a handful of books that I reread a few times a year, this will definitely be added to that list. The characters were everything and the way the narrators bought them to life was superb! ✨️

Listening to Unloved on Audible made the story even more powerful 🥹.

The narrators brought Ro’s quiet strength and Matt’s vulnerability to life in such an authentic way. Their journey through pain, healing, and eventually love felt like a true slow burn with so much heart ❤️🔥.

The representation of mental health and learning struggles was done with such care, and it made me fall even harder for these characters.

A five-star listen, no hesitation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

Raw, Real & Beautifully Human 🎧💚

Terrible fmc, super annoying, weak and without any personality.
Waste of 1 credit.

After the first book I expected more, mmc has a good story and personality

The narration does its best to bring Unloved to life, and I’ll give it that—the emotions are poured in heavy. But from start to finish, this is a wild ride of unfiltered drama. Ro’s constant inner chaos makes her a hard character to connect with, despite her obvious trauma and need for affection. Freddy is the hero she clings to, and he plays his part well—gentle, protective, swoon-worthy.

But the story? It doesn’t just flirt with emotional overload—it goes all in, full throttle. The heavy-handed drama, paired with an ending twist I personally could’ve done without (no points for guessing—yes, it’s that one), left me more exhausted than enchanted.

One for fans of high-strung emotions and whirlwind connections. Just… brace yourself.

Touch-starved and over the top
