While I'm not saying the author is completely wrong, some on the concepts mentioned here are true, I just found lack of details, lack of examples, or it almost felt as if the book was written by someone who uses situations from his last relationship to mark his ex as a narcissist.

While some examples are on spot, other ones I strongly disagree with to be connected with covert narcissism. The jumping between describing "overt" and "covert" are all over the place and only create confusion in the audiobook format. I felt the book lacks the depth in explanation, the nuance of the situations.

Covert behaviour is extremely difficult to unravel, it takes from months to years to identify clearly. That's why it's called covert. Yet in this book the examples are mostly shallow, obvious and not too complex. It is read/written as if it is easy to spot or identify, "just watch how you feel in the presence of this person". And that's really not it.. Completely missing the point. Narcissistic people completely change your perception of them, of you and the world, your objectivity goes out of the window. You second guess yourself, you don't even trust yourself if you start having doubts about their character.

I can hear a lot of the terminology that does relate to the topic of narcissism and yet these terms are not clarified here. Not explained. Just listing more and more terms instead of achieving true understanding in the reader.

I am not sure how much of this interpretation is caused by the mechanical reading of the narrator or lack of depth in writing.

I couldn't finish it. I was disturbed with how much content I disagreed with because it wasn't clear what the author was saying or it wasn't a complete thought. Very often rushing to the next thing and list more and more terminology that sounds advanced. Slow down. Let your reader catch up and reflect on our life too, find where we relate, to compare the situations we are so confused about. I believe you did your research just slow down man.

While I appreciate the intention of unmasking abusive people which is extremely important and I fully support helping the victims get out of the cycle and help them identify such behaviour, this book unfortunately serves as no such guide. I don't believe a lot of people will go out into the world and thanks to this book clearly identify abusive behaviour of a narcissist.

Given the female in the title I was hoping to read more about the "cattiness" or creating competitive dynamic and how they have to win the attention of all the men in the friends group and being in the spotlight. While slowly chipping away the confidence of other females in the group / workplace. Otherwise I really didn't see much importance in naming the gender in the title. When it comes to narcissism, male and female subjects have very similar if not the same behaviours.

It may serve as an introduction to someone who never heard about narcissism but I would still rather recommend other books for that. This is just too chaotic, too confusing. All over the place. But hey if it helps at least one person leave their abusive partner, it's a win. Keep going. Keep learning. Maybe it's just not my writing style.

Surface level, repetitive and missing the point
