Reading this reminds me of when my children were competing during high school. Now my grandchildren could benefit from the critical messages in this book. Fortunately, the coaches for my children, decades ago, were active believers in the importance of mindset and introduced our family to the power of the subconscious mind, visualization, and affirmations.

Coaches must actively teach young athletes how to increase mental fortitude when faced with intense competitive pressure. If the coaches you work with do not emphasize mindset and goal-setting, then this book will be an inspiring handbook to realize their full athletic potential.

Sports during a young person's life are beneficial in many ways, most obviously the opportunity to develop and improve physical strength. However, the benefits a youngster can develop toward more fantastic mental and social success may need to be more prominent. In addition, young athletes can generalize the practices and apply the principles to their academic and social success.

Listening to the narration was enjoyable and motivating, like having a personal pep-talk from your coach.

This book offered such a unique perspective on mental health. I loved how a book like this exists; targeted at young athletes, a group that is not a group who is often strongly encouraged to focus on this, at arguably the most vulnerable age and stage of their lives.

Highly recommend it to anyone who has children involved in sports, or anything competitive really. It was a great guide and provided a lot of helpful tips on how to navigate various situations.

What an inspiration!

Headspace is a huge factor when it comes to accomplishing anything in life. These real life examples make this book even more motivational. Something about hearing the success of others makes everything feel more possible!

Something I really appreciated in the book is the explanation of how stress affects the body and the further explained strategies of how to handle that. It's so important to understand both the mind and the body to have a balanced life.
The author goes about writing these things so well, and to top it off the narrators voice delivers it all perfectly.

Provides crucial advice for athletes - though this book is for young athletes a lot of it is relevant to all athletes - in my opinion. It provides a wholistic approach to mental strength, Recognising that athletes are people not just machines. I have been involved in swimming my whole life and poor treatment of young people is rife within the sport. I like how this book encourages athletes to be their own advocates because sometimes no-one else is doing it. There are some great examples that keep the book really interesting and easy to listen to - including Phelps (a fave of mine). Pragmatic advice that can be implemented and used immediately.

Being involved in youth coaching I found this book to be incredibly beneficial. It gives a great insight and it’s definitely helped me have a much better understanding of the kids I coach.
I got this book to give me ideas and inspiration to get the best out of the kids, while making sure they always love sport for what it is. There’s plenty I’m going to start implementing in my training session’s, especially around mental health. Let’s make sure the kids are enthusiastic, passionate and have fun.
