Being involved in youth coaching I found this book to be incredibly beneficial. It gives a great insight and it’s definitely helped me have a much better understanding of the kids I coach.
I got this book to give me ideas and inspiration to get the best out of the kids, while making sure they always love sport for what it is. There’s plenty I’m going to start implementing in my training session’s, especially around mental health. Let’s make sure the kids are enthusiastic, passionate and have fun. As a parent, I am always looking for ways to help my kids excel at what they do. My son is (like me) a type-A person and works really hard at his sport, lacrosse. He has a chance for a full scholarship at an Ivy League school next year and has been burning the candle at both ends to keep up his grades and get noticed by college scouts. Nevertheless, he pays a heavy mental price for keeping up that load.

Then I found this book! I was so surprised at how spot-on the author is. He correctly notes that young athletes struggle with the mental and emotional challenges of excelling at their sport while still working to figure themselves out, just like the rest of us must do.

The author highlights the "shadow" world of the mental game that happens with these young athletes. It requires that they extend the discipline that makes them great at their sport into their mind, not as easy to do when they face the stresses of grades, physical development, and eating well.

There are numerous suggestions presented that can help the student-athlete cope more effectively with these stresses...counseling, breathing, mindfulness/meditation, adequate sleep, etc.

If you have a student-athlete, I highly recommend this book. It provides a lot of practical tips and tricks (many that are not obvious) that can help your student become their balanced best.

Unstoppable is an amazing and inspiring book! The tools given to begin visualization can be used for anything in your life, not just when you are training. I love that there is a chapter on gratitude as well, it’s something we don’t think about when we think about training but is invaluable.

This book is such an inspiration - not just for athletes but for anyone with big goals who feels they are being held back from full potential by limiting beliefs and anxiety. Though I'm not a competitve athlete, I've found the information in this book to be applicable to professional goals and other life goals as well. I particularly enjoyed the section on rewiring your thinking to acknowledge and banish limiting thoughts and beliefs that are keeping your goals out of reach. I highly recommend this book to boost self confidence and feel more empowered in whatever you do.

This audiobook is what every young athlete needs. It covers the importance of mental health and ensuring your mental health is taken care of to get the best results. The chapter on Reboot How You Think was really informative. I loved how the author used many real life examples of professional athletes.
